River Board Says It Is Entitled to Payment Recently the Petone and Eastbourne Borough Councils expressed objection to contributing to the Hutt Park rates. The question was discussed by the Hutt River Board yesterday following the receipt of a letter from the Hutt Park committee, pointing out the boroughs’ attitudes. “I don’t think there is anything to be done this year.” s- a id the Chairman. Mr. F. J. Jones. The secretary, Mr. A. J. Gearing, said that Petone and Eastbourne did not propose to contribute. The chairman: They don’t say that much. Mr. J. Mitchell: I have always maintained that we are entitled to our rertes. The River Board has given very great service to tlie Hutt Park, On the motion of the chairman it was decided to reply that the board did very valuable work to the property in the vicinity which included Hutt Park and considered it was entitled to payment.
