RAID BY MASKED MEN

Man Shot in Irish Home Dublin, February 11. Four masked men entered a house at Edgeworthstown, County Longford, rushed into the dining-room, and ordered the owner, Mr. Gerald MoreO’Ferrall, to put up his hands. He refused, and a* raider fired point-blank. The bullet struck a cigarette case ifl the waistcoat pocket of Mr. MoreO’Ferrall, and was deflected harmlessly. His 21-year-old son, Richard, rushed to the rescue and jumped on the raider, who shot him-in the stomach. The raiders decamped in a motor-car. It is believed that they intended to kidnap Mr. Gerald More-O’Ferrall, as a bucket of tar .and some chains were found in the garden. Mr. Gerald MoreO’Ferrall was the agent for the Sanderson Estate, and recently received threatening letters following the issue of ejectment orders. Mr. Richard More-O’Ferrall was rushed to hospital in Dublin. His condition is serious.
