YESTERDAY’S WEATHER
Cloudy in Wellington After drizzling rain-in tersi>ersed with brief showers on Monday night the weather partially cleared in Wellington yesterday. There was, however, a persistence of very low clouds which in the afternoon again covered the sky for much of the time. A fresh wind blew throughout from the S.S.E. The minimum temperature on Monday night was 61.5 degrees and the maximum yesterday 69.9. The temperature at 4 p.m. was 65.8. Hot weather with a clouded sky was experienced in Palmerston North. Several heavy rain showers occurred at Masterton in the morning, but it cleared a little in the afternoon. The temperature remained high, and there was a light breeze from the south. The weather was very muggy at Wanganui with a good deal of cloud. Intermittent heavy showers fell in various parts of Central Hawke’s Bay accompanied by an appreciable drop in the temperature. The maximum temperature at Waipukurau was 74 degrees. The drought appears definitely to have broken.
Fine weather with a light north-east wind prevailed at Auckland, and the barometer, falling since midday, registered 29.85 in. last night.
The weather at Christchurch was cloudy but fine with a maximum temperature of 71.4 degrees. The barometer was steady at 30.22 inches last night. Fine weather and a fresh easterly wind prevailed at Dunedin with sunshine and passing cloud. Tlie temperature at midday was 68 degrees and tlie maximum for tlie day 70 degrees. The barometer was fairly steady at 30.25111.
