FUNDS REDUCED
Wellington Red Cross Society Funds at present in hand and available to the Wellington Centre of the New Zealand Branch of the British Red Cross Society will provide for only three more years and are being steadily reduced, according to a statement made by the chairman (Mr. H. Rose) at a meeting yesterday. A member remarked that the centre had been faced with extinction for the last six years. The meeting was attended by Messrs. H. Rose (chairman), A. 11. Bath. W. Waddel, A. E. Boyes, F. S. Pope, Colonel R. S. McDonald, Lady Myers, and Miss M. Low. The treasurer’s statement showed that the funds had been reduced by £lBl/5/- since December. The chairman said that the reduction was not great, but the balance remaining at the end of January, £3915, was only sufficient for about three years. 2We have been faced with extinction for the last six years,” said Mr, A. H.’ Bath. The chairman agreed.
Tuesday, March 12, was fixed tentatively as the date for the annual meeting, the chairman remarking that the books would have to be audited before the meeting could be held. The chairman and secretary were instructed to prepare a draft of the annual report for submission to members.
