WATER POLO

Lyall Bay Beats Hutt When Lyall Bay met Hutt in the A grade of Hie Wellington water polo championship at the Te Aro baths yesterdav evening, some very skilful water polo was witnessed. Lyall Bay won by six goals to one, but in the first half particularly the teams proved by uo means ill matched, and keen play resulted. In the opening few minutes of the match, which consisted of seven minutes each way, all in, J. Blakeley scored for Lyall Bay, and Balfour for Hutt, in quick succession. The prospects seemed for a while very even, but when R. Pelham threw three goals, for Lyall Bay, without Hutt scoring, the stronger team became evident. Blakeley scored again, and Pelham, by throwing a final goal, completed a highly meritorious performance, leaving Lyall Bay the winners by six to one. Y.M.C.A. v. Wellington. In the B grade, Y.M.C.A. beat Wellington by one goal to nil. The play, although not of the same high standard as the A match, was keen and full of promise, and the opposing teams were very evenly matched. Oliver threw the winning goal for the Y.M.C.A. team, in the course of the second half. “Speedo” suits—chosen by champions. Unequalled for swimming, surfing, sunbathing.—AdvL
