RECIPE FOR “PERRY”
The following has been received in reply to a correspondent's request for a recipe for “Perry” — The procedure for making “Perry’’ is similar to that for making apple cider. The. pears should be sweet, and are pressed and ground in the same way as for cider. If only a simple beverage is wanted, perhaps this recipe may be found suitable. Fill a jar with sllved pears. Cover with boiling water, and leave in a warm place for three days. It will then be frothy. Strain through cheese cloth, and to every four cups of liquid add one of sugar. Stand again for three days, then strain and bottle. In the Wellington Inter-House Association’s sports contest held at the Basin Reserve on Saturday evening, the James Smith team wore gold shorts with black and white stripes down the side. Of the 3.000,000 acres of woodland in Great Britain, the State controls only one-tenth. Every private ear parked in a London street occupies a site with a capital value of £20,000.
