Notable Increase Last Year BRITAIN HEADS LIST Nearly Half of Total World Output , • By Telegraph.—Press Assn. —Copyright (Received February 6, 7.25 p.m.) ’ London, February &•' There was'a notable increase in 193-1 m shipbuilding, vessels launched being nearly double the number in 103-3. states Lloyd’s annual returns. Altogether 530 vessels were launched in the world, totalling 967,419 tons. Leading countries were:—Britain and Ireland, 459,877 tons; Japan, 152.420 tons; Germany, 73.733 tons; Denmark, 61,729 tons; Sweden. 49.542 tons; Holland. 46.905 tons. The increase in world output amounts to 478,403 tons, or 9,7.8 per cent., of which the British increase was 326,762 tons. The British output was 47.5 per cent., of the total world output, compared with 27.2 per cent, in 1933.
