TO RACE IN SYDNEY
Gallant Knight and Silver Jubilee K. VOITRE AS RIDER Dominion Special Service. Auckland, February 6. Mr E. Montgomery contemplates racing his horses Silver Jubilee and Gallant Knight in Sydney in the autumn, and unless anything unforeseen occurs they will be shipped under the care of their trainer, W. Townsend, next month. Arrangements have been made for K. Voitie to go across and ride the horses, and in his capable hands they should lose nothing on the score of horsemanship. Although he is a five-year-old,. Silver Jubilee qfimmenced racing only in the
spring, and has had a rapid rise to prominence. His most notable performance to d’ate was his victory in the Newmarket Handicap on the third day of the summer carnival at Ellerslie, when he carried 7.12 and won by three lengths in the good time of 1.12. Silver Jubilee is a wiry gelding by Romeo from Bouvardia, and is a half-brother to Barometer, who was a useful performer over middle distances. He has brilliant speed, and should be a good prospect for Australia if he trains on well. His engagements include the Doncaster Handicap at Randwick. Gallant Knight is a three-year-old geldin by Gay Shield from Sibford, hence a half-brother to the Railway Handicap winner Awarere. He is a delicate customer, who has had very little . racing, and has not appeared in public since racing in Wanganui in the spring. He displayed distinct promise when he won the maiden race at Marton in September, and may prove useful if he becomes a little more robust.
