PEACE MOVE MADE
Notts Cricket Dispute (Received January 20, 10.58 p.m.) London. January 20. An unexpectedly early peace move occurred in the Notts cricket dispute. Messrs. Whitby and Wooley, representing the conveners of the meeting on January 16, visited the secretary, Mr. Brown, and suggested that they, with Mr. Adams, seconder of the no-confi-dence resolution, meet three representatives of the committee enabling each side to nominate six candidates for a new committee.- If those selected are acceptable both parties should officially be nominated at the annual meeting. Mr. Brown agreed to convey the suggestion to the committee. An earlier message stated that the Notts committee, after a meeting lasting 2-J hours, resolved to resign en bloc, but expressed a willingness to carry on until a new committee was appointed. The resignations include Mr. A. W. Shelton, ex-president, who had been elected a life member of the committee for his services, and Sir Julian Cahn.
Mr. Whitby considers that the no-confidence vote was not necessarily a defence of any type of bowling, but largely due to the committee's camouflage of secrecy.
