Masterton Sale Dominion Special Service. Mastertoil, January 15. Owing to the stud fam fair being held to-morrow at Masterton the weekly sale was conducted to-day before a fair attendance of buyers. Keen competition was in evidence for good rape lambs, which sold well up to late rates. Medium and small lambs, however, were considerably easier than lately. Breeding ewes and wethers made fair values, while fat sheep sold on a par with late rates. Cattle met a dull market, being hard to quit, while pigs were only disposed of at low values. The New Zealand Farmers’ Distributing Co., Ltd.’s offering comprised 2643 sheep, a few cattle and pigs. Prices were : —Sheep : Fat, wethers, 23/5 ro 24/-; fat ewes, 1-1/7 to 15/7; fat Southdown ewes, 15/-; fat lambs, 19/6; b.f. lape lambs, 14/3 to 16/2; medium b.f. lambs, 10/9 to 13/2; medium shorn w.f. lambs, 8/6 to 10/7; woolly w.f. lambs, 9/- to 10/2; small lambs, 4/6 to 6/8. Store ewes, 8/- to 12/-; small two-tooth wethers, 17/4 to 17/8; sound-mouth ewes, 15/-. Cattle: Store cows, 18/- to 19/-; fat Jersey cow, £l/10/-; potter cows, C/-. Pigs: Wenners, 5/- to 11/-; slips, 10/to 18/-; porkers, 22/6; baconers, £2 5/-; sows, £l. Particularly keen competition was elicited for a good line of black faces offered by Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., and this firm offered 1673 sheep. Sheep: B.F. lambs, good, 15/- to 16/7; b.f. lambs, 13/7 to 14/9; b.f. lambs, small, 9/- to 13/2; woolly w.f. wether lambs, 13/10 to 14/1; shorn w.f. wether lambs, 11/3 to 12/-; shorn w.f. lambs, small. 7/- to 9/7. Fat and forward fouriooth wethers. 22/- to 23/-; forward Southdown wethers to 21/3; forward w.f. wethers to 22/-; good-conditioned twotooth wethers, 20/- to 20/6; fat wethers to 23/6; two-tooth wethers, 18/- to 19/3; small two-tooth wethers, 14/6. Pongaroa Sale Dominion Special Service. Masterton, January I*s. A fair yarding- of sheep was offered by Dalgety and Co., Ltd., at the Pongaroa sale, at which a good demand was forthcoming. Prices were: Two-tooth wethers, 15/6 to 20/1; b.f. lambs 8/- to 15/2; shorn w.f. lambs, 10/3 to 13/4. Springing dairy heifers to £4/10/-. Prices realised by the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co.. Ltd, were: Five-year ewes, 19/- to 19/8; twotooth wethers. 19/7; two-tooth wethers 20/7: two and four-tooth ditto, 18/-; two-tooth ditto at. 20/7; b.f. lambs at 9/to 15/-.
