WHERE LIFE IS CHEAP

North-west Frontier’s Evil Record

Calcutta, November 29.

With 515 officially recorded murders last year, a substantial decrease over the previous year, the North-West Frontier Province is claimed by the Government as probably the most murderous area in the civilised world. The province has an average of 260 murder cases per million, compared with three per million in Britain. The Government recognises the seriousness of the problem, and contends that the remedy lies in bringing about a change in the people's mentality.
