OBITUARY
Mr. Ebenezer Piper
By the death at Oamaru yesterday of Mr. Ebenezer Piper, aged 78, North Otago lost its most esteemed citizen, says a Press Association message. Mr. Piper was born at Letham, Forfarshire, Scotland, and came to New Zealand as a young man. He took up teaching at Teaneraki, Oamaru and Green Island, being headmaster .at Green Island. After retiring he acted as secretary of the agricultural and pastoral association, the Malay Rubber Company, and' the Oamaru Fire Board. Mrs. H. J. Cameron The death occurred suddenly on Sunday at her home, “Glenmore,” Turakina Valley, of Helen Cameron, wifeof Mr. Hugh J. Cameron, a well-known farmer and deputy-master of the Rangitikei Hunt Club. Mrs. Cameron was the eldest daughter of the late Mr. anti Mrs. F. M. Spurdie, of Wanganui, Mayor and Mayoress of Wanganui for many years, and mother of Mr. Douglas Cameron, the well-known cricketer and footballer. She is survived by her husband, two daughters, Mrs. Freda Cunningham and Miss Noel Cameron, and two sons, Messrs. Douglas and Roger Cameron. Mrs. W. Liddington A “Dominion” Special Service message from Masterton states that the death of Mrs. W. Liddington, at the age of 71 years, occurred at her residence, 10 Victoria Street, on Sunday morning. Mrs. Liddington, who was born in Masterton, had spent the whole of her 71 years of life in that town. She took a keen interest and an active part in the. affairs of the Masterton branch of the Women’s Christian Temperance Union. For nearly half a century she was an active and devoted member of the Salvation Army. Her first husband, Mr. J. Devouport, predeceased her 21 years ago, and she is survived by her second husband. There is no family.
