Wood Taken From Reserve Brought as a warning, proceedings in which Frederick Healey, Alexander McLean, Reginald Clifford and George Guy, all relief workers, were charged with taking live wood from the Education Reserve at Eastbourne were heard in the Petone Magistrate’s Court yesterday. Defendants were convicted and discharged by Mr. J. G. L. Hewitt, S.-M. Senior-Sergeant G. Sivyer said that Healey, with several other men. went on to the borough reserve and cut timber for firewood. It appeared that in certain conditions the Eastbourne Borough Council gave some relief workers permission to take dead wood as distinct from live wood.
