World Conference Meeting (British Official Wireless.) (Received May 2, 5.5 p.m.) Rugby, May 1. Nearly GO nations were represented tc-day at the preliminary meeting of the London Conference of the International Union for the Protection of Industrial Property. A plenary session of tlie conference will take place in the Locarno room at the Foreign Office to morrow. The last conference of the kind was held in 1925, and this is the first occasion on which the union lias met in London. Tlie subjects to be discussed aie important but high! technical mutters relating to the protection of patent rights, designs, trade marks and oilier kindred matters coming within the- scope of the union. Sir Frederick Leith Ross, chief economic adviser to the Government, heads the British delegation.
