USE OF ESPERANTO
Increasing In Overseas Lands At the weekly meeting of the Wellington Esperanto Club on Tuesday evening in the Y.M.C.A., Mr. Vernon Leek presided over a good attendance ..f members. Most of the evening was devoted to tuition. the various classes being grouped round the club blackboards arid study tables. Mr. William H. King, secretary of the New Zealand Esperanto Association, addressed the members in the international language on the subject of the increasing use being made of Esperanto in all parts of the world. The famous German shipping company, Norddeutecher Lloyd, used Esperanto in connection with its foreign publicity, as wae evidenced by Esperanto circulars produced by the speaker. Other circulars in Esperanto handed round for inspection advertised the attractions of the city of Cologne. Most of the leading cities on the Continent produced Esperanto circulars tor fore’gn distribution. , •Speaking of the wide dissemination of Esperanto in the Orient, Mr. King produced a quarterly publication of the Sun Yat Sen University of Canton, which was written entirely in Esperanto. In a Swedish Esperanto journal there appeared an article concerning a New Zealand peed grower, who bad been dealing with Swedish concerns through a knowledge of the international language. Ur. King, who had recently returned from his holidays, brought to the club greetings from Esperantists in Whnngaxei. Auckland and Palmerston North.
