GIRLS’ MARATHON

Helping Funds of Y.W.C.A. There aremiany indications that the “marathon race” organised by the business girls of Wellington to raise funds for the Y.W.C.A. will lie a great success. Th. novelty of the idea has appealed to-the imagination of the ■ girls of a large number of firms, and already “girl runners” have been chosen to represent the different houses in ; the race to the goal. z The marathon will be launched officially this evening by the Mayor, Mr. T. C. A. Hislop, at a gathering in the . Blue Triangle Hall. A mannequin parade arranged by courtesy of Mr. W. .Simin, of the D.1.C.. will be an attraction, and community singing, led by Mr. • Will Mason, will be another popular feature. The girl-runners will be pre- ’ sehted to the Mayoress during Ihe evening. In addition to general events, in which all will share, individual firms arc planning a series of efforts in support of their candidates, and competition promises to be very keen. Free aeroplane rides will be given to the girl runner securing the first place and to the girl (selling the most tickets. The general public are invited to be present at the gathering this evening.
