CANADIAN FINANCES
Obstacles to Conversion (Received March 20. 11.10 p.m.) Ottawa, Marcli 20. Mr. R. B. Bennett. Prime Minister, told the House on Monday night that two factors stand in the way of a general conversion of Dominion bonds. Wartime tax-free bonds must be redeemed and 1.250,000 dollars a week deficits of the Canadian National Railways must cease. The Prime Minister said that it would be national suicide for Canada, a young country awaiting development, to repudiate or default on bonded indebtedness.
