MILITARISTIC AIR
Opening of the Reichstag EIGHT-MINUTE CEREMONY *' Berlin, December 12. A militaristic air pervaded the new Reichstag when it assembled in the Kroll Opera House. Over six hundred members wore uniforms, the majority in brown Nazi garb, with red brassards reminiscent of wartime. A gathering of thousands of spectators was disappointed at the absence of Herr Hitler, who was welcoming the cruiser Koln at Wilhelmshaven on her return from a world cruise. Colonel Goering, who dispensed with the usual roll-call was elected president by acclamation. The House cliosw three new vice-presidents The proceedings were short and snappy, and the session the briefest on record. It lasted eight minutes.
