The Duke* of Northumberland and Lieutenant-Colonel Henslowe are passengers for Sydney by the P. and 0. liner Strathaird. They are coming on to New Zealand to enjoy some fishing. Messrs. Alan Lambourne (Takapau) and S. Lambourne (Wellington) leave by the Monowal to- catch the Oronsay at Sydney en route to England. Mr. L. F. P. Taylor, of Wellington, who was badly injured In an aeroplane crash at Johnsonville.in August, 1932, reached London, with his mother ana Sister Turner, in the Tamaroa on Monday last. His father, Mr. E. T. Taylor, has received a cablegram stating that his son stood the voyage well, and even took part in- some of the sports competitions on the trip. Mre>A. P. Gallus left by the Maunganuf yesterday for' his home in Melbourne, after a 12 months’ trip abroad. The vacancy on the Canterbury College Board of Governors, caused by the death of Mr. W. M. has been filled by the election of Mr. W. PSilencer, who is the present chairman of the Canterbury Education Board. Mr. Spencer was elected unopposed, as the only other nominee, Mr. H. Odell, withdrew his nomination.
Representatives of the Southland Ski Club and the Southland branch of the New Zealand Alpine Club gathered at Invercargill Last week to bid goodbye to Mr. L. V. Bryant, who will leave shortly for England and the Continent, whe’- dpring his year’s leave of absence, he intends, to indulge in sightseeing and climbing.
