.Wellington South Nursing Division --/•'? The twenty-first birthday of the Wellington South Nursing Division of the St. John Ambulance Brigade. Overseas was'celebrated with a party held in the association hall, Vivian Street, last evening. . « ; "
The collection of inter-district and district trophies, which represented a long sequence of victories, were on show on the stage, and the four-tiered birthday cake, which had been made by Mrs. Betts, the lady superintendent, held a place of honour. ;- ' ' ~ The members and visitors were welcomed by the president, Mrs. Preston and Mrs. Betts also spoke. Dr. Platts Mills, ' lady superintendent,' who was the first divisional surgeon,* and Mr. E. ■W. Ward, assistant commissioner, spoke of the work of the ■ association. -It was stated that.the flag - of the Maltese Cross, which was draped over the stage, was . made In 1913 by the -foundation members of, the division, and was -the first ambulance flag ever flown. in Wellington, . Musical items and dancing were enjoyed after supper? Mr?. Meachen, secretary of the Wellington Centre, being a capable master of ceremonies.
