RED CROSS AWARDS

Presentation and Concert SENIOR RESULTS Certificates won by first aid and home nursing students of the Wellington Centre of the New Zealand Red Cross Society were presented at the Town Hall last'night by Lady Myers. In his opening speech Mr. C. H. Chapman, M.P., chairman of the Wei lington Peacetime Centre of the society, said the society’s mission was to assist the less fortunate and to be of service to the community in general. In furtherance of these objects, the society was inculcating a knowledge of first aid and hygiene in adults and children. He congratulated Sisters Lewis and-C. Aitken, who had approximately 1000 children in their classes, on their work. Later in the evening students who had passed the tests would receive.certificates as evidence of their efficiency, and, like all who underwent the course, would be better citizens for their knowledge. Before the awards were presented a concert programme by members of the Junior Red Cross was presented, the following contributing items: —The Northland Choir, Bryce Glennie, Joan Chandler, Hutt Central Choir and Gavotte, Doreen Purdie, Margaret and Mary Morgan, Jean Purvis, Joyce Knighton, lan and Jim Galloway, Nola Pritchard, Joan Raine, Lyall Bay Verse Speaking Choir (conducted by Mr. W.
