WAIRARAPA NOTES
A successful garden party was held at the Solway State School, Masterton, by the women’s social committee for the purpose of raising funds toward the cost of. constructing baths at the school. The party was opened by Lady Perry, who was presented with a bouquet by one of the pupils. There was quite a large gathering, and a hanpy afternoon was spent, much interest being taken in the competitions and nov elty events. Mr. A. Donald, a member of the Wellington Education. Board, was present. A pleasant social afternoon was held in conjunction with the annual meeting of the Presbyterian Ladies’ Guild nt Pahiatua. Enjoyable musical items were given by Mesdames W. H. Mnrch, 11. R. Ogg, 0. Clarke. JI. F. Ryan, and I Boyens. An interesting lecture was given by the Rev. K. L. Warren on Easter Island. The winners of an amusing competition were Mesdames J. D Thomson and A. Carthew. Miss K. Bisset was elected a life member of the guild in recognition of her faithful service to the guild since its inauguration. Afternoon tea hostesses were Mesdames J. E. Macdonald and Sutherland.
