OBITUARY
Mr. John Massey A brother of the late Rt. Hon. W. F. Massey, Mr. John Massey, Pukeroro, Cambridge, died in a private hospital in Hamilton to-day, at tlie age of 76 years, reports a “Dominion” Special message. The late Mr. Massey was born in County Derry, aud left Ireland with his parents in 1862 at the age of five years, arriving in Auckland in the sailing ship Indian Empire on October 29 of the same year. The family settled iu the Mangere district, where Mr. Massey took up land 55 years ago. He lived at Mangore and Tamaki most of his life, but, six years ago, be bought a farm a.t Pukeroro. He was at one time president of the Auckland Agricultural and Pastoral Association, and, during his term of office, the first Winter Show was held in the city in 1925. He unsuccessfully contested the Manukau seat at the general elections. He was formerly a member of the Mangere Road Board and Tamaki West Road Board, and was associated with other local bodies in the district. Mrs. Massey died two years ago. Mr. Massey is survived by two sons. Messrs. C. Massey, Tauwhare. and Wellesley Massey, Tamaki, and one daughter. Miss Massey, Pukeroro.
