PLAY-READING CLUB
East Girls’ College A committee meeting of the Wellington East Amateur Dramatic Society was held in their new club rooms in Lower Cuba Street, recently. Miss Gwen Ockenden, the president of the club, was in the chair. The society, membership of which is open to all old girls of Wellington East Girls’ College, holds fortnightly readings and is at present busily engaged rehearsing for production, John van Druten’s London stage success, “Behold We Live.” The secretary, Miss Marjorie Eberlet, informed the committee that the producer. Mr. W. Mountjoy, Junr., had secured the services of Alan Howard and D. D. Wilson to fill male parts so that the cast will include Marjorie Eberlet, Mollie Denton, Kathleen Turnbull, Helen Sinel, W. J. Mountjoy, Junr., Alan Howard and D. D. Wilson. The society members as well as the cast are sparing no pains to make their first production of a three-act play a success, and a fitting culmination to their year’s activities. The society is rapidly becoming one of the most energetic branches of the Old Girls’ Association and is hopeful of receiving the support of all college, “old girls.”
