POLICE CHIEF “MOVED ON.”
A Loudon policeman recently "moved on” Lord Treneluird, the commissioner of the London metropolitan police. A reception was being held at an hotel in Park Lane. Outside a policeman was coping with the flood of traffic. He walked over to :i motor-car standing by the kerb and ordered the chauffeur Io move on. . , The. chauffeur looked surprised. “This.” he declared, "is Lord Trcnchard’s car.” “Oh, yes'? I’ye heard that one before. Move on!” said the sceptical constable. Again the chauffeur explained. The policeman told him to bring the owner of the ear from the hotel. ’Three minutes passed. 'The owner walked out. The policeman recognised him. It was Lord Trenehard ! The policenum saluted and explained that the car obstructed the traffic. "Very good, officer,” said Lord Trenchnrd meekly. And the car moved on.
