SIAMESE CATS NOW

London’s New Craze London is taking to the Siamese cat, following the success - of the Siamese Cat Club’s championship show. Their lively behaviour, coupled with their small size, makes them very good pets for Londoners and they are remarkably tractable and intelligent, running to heel when called and. even accompanying their owner out for walks. One hopes that the old-fashioned “pussy,” so common in London’s streets and which makes such a pretty picture stalking along the pavements under the street lamps at night, will not be superseded by the newer and more fashionable breed, but the Siamese certainly have many endearing qualities. In the family circle they are not always popular, for they have a habit of identifying themselves so completely with their particular master that bites and scratches are apt to be the portion of anyone attempting to take master’s place. The Siamese are certainly “hardbitten.” They are like fierce dogs in their loyalty and have even been known to set about burglars entering their owner’s room at night.—Reuter, special to “The Dominion.”
