WELLINGTON COLLEGE
Three Athletic Records Broken ANNUAL SPORTS HELD ■ Weather such as Wellington College has not had for its athletic sports for 12 years, favoured the school yesterday when the annual event was held under cloudless skies and with only the lightest of breezes. The performances of the winners were creditable. C. R. Bush broke the record for the half-mile handicap under 16 set up by F W. Goodbehere in 1903 and equalled by R. Harris in 1910 (2min. 18secJ by covering the distance in 2mln. 17 3-u sec. Bush won the junior mile championship on Tuesday in umin. 6 2-ssec., beating W. G. Cook’s record time of smin. 11 l-ssec., in 1032, and making a better time than was made in the senior mile this year. E. K. A. MeClune threw the discus yesterday J44tt. 9.} in., and broke his own record of 106 ft. lOin. set up last year. The senior champion is N. 8. Burns and the runner-up H. C. Arnold. The junior champion is H. G. Turner. A remarkable achievement was Mr. Frank M. Leckie’s winning of the old boys’ race, for he won the corresponding event in 18S3, 50 years ago. At the conclusion of the sports the principal, Mr. W. A. Armour, briefly addressed the pupils and visitors and Mrs. Armour presented the trophies.
