A “SWIMMING” TIME

Looking for Leaks Engineers and members of the crew spent hours swimming about the stokehold and engine-room of the steamer Trevose, trying to locate a leak which caused a severe list during loading operations at Cardiff docks recently. The inrush of water caused parts of the vessel to be flooded to a depth of 10 feet. There was a list of 40 degrees on the port side, causing the vessel to lean against the quay wall. If the list bad been on the starboard side it is probable that the Trevose would have turned turtle. ' Eventually the trouble was located, ami after several hours of pumping the danger was removed. The Trevose is a vessel of 4.375 tons, registered at St. Ives. Cornwall.
