Cricket to Continue GOLFING FIELD DAY Followers of summer sports will have a varied programme to interest them to-day. Cricket. The first series of cricket matches will be concluded to-day, when Midland (209 for eight wickets) will play Wellington at the Basin Reserve; Institute (158 for nine) v. University, at the Basin Reserve; and Old Boys (187 for eight) v. Kilbirnie, at Kilbirnie. Petone and Hutt will commence their game at Petone. The Golf Card. The Wellington club will play a medal round this afternoon. The Waiwetu club will open its summer season with a mixed fourbaU bogey competition, and a stroke competition will be played to-morrow. The Shandon club will play the monthly bogey competition this afternoon. The clubs which compete in the Watt Cup contest —Shandon, Titahi. Paekakariki, Waiwetu, and Manor Park—will hold their annual field day on the Shandon links to-morrow, foursonjes 'being play ed in- the morning and singles in the afternoon. The Mornington ladies’ club will play a silver button competition to-morrow. The sliramar club will play the first round of the Eclectic Cup competition to-day. ■ Rifle Siiooting. The Suburbs Defence Rifle Club will continue its championship series on the Seddon Range, Trentham, this afternoon, at ranges 800 and 900 yards. Amateur Athletics. The annual korero of the Wellington Amateur Athletic Club will be held at Athletic Park from 2.30 p.m. to-day.
