JAPANESE IN JEHOL

Development of Territory

CORRESPONDENT’S VISIT

(Received November 1, 10.30 p.m.) London, November 1. The correspondent of the “Daily Mail” at Peking, who has returned from a visit to the Jehol Province, emphasises the steady development since the Japanese occupied it in March. The railway has been extended inland toward Shaoyang, 70 miles from the coast, ’and should reach Jehol city in 1934. Four omnibuses, escorted by military, run weekly from Chinchow to Jehol city, and four mail aeroplanes fly weekly between Jehol and Mukden. Customs posts have been established along the Great Wall.
