CARNIVAL WEEK
Railways to Assist ' Wellington, in the course of the next few weeks, will be revelling in one of the most elaborate carnivals ever staged in this country—the National Confidence Carnival—which will be held from November 18 to November 25, and which will introduce to the city a series of gaieties covering everything from an historic pageant to a spectacular battle of flowers, the first of its kind to be held in the Dominion. All this will lie staged with the object of making people definitely realise that the depression is a thing of the past and that~tlines really have improved. The city is bound to be filled to capacity during the festivities, and people are expected to come .from all parts. In order to allow those from outside the city to travel as cheaply as possible the Railway Department will be offering a special scale of fares that should be withing the reach of everyone. Some new attraction will be forthcoming every day and every evening during the carnival week, and doubtless many people will welcome the cheap fares that, constitute a definite invitation to attend the- carnival. It is confidently thought that the carnival will be something unique. There will be athletic sports, band contests, military displays, concerts, a floral fete, dances, a battle of flowers, ArcWorks, bonfires, and beautiful Illuminations.
Railway fares and time-tables in connection with Carnival Week will be published later.
