UNCENSORED TALKS

New Broadcasting Policy BALDWIN REVIEWS TRADE , By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright Rugby, October 13. The British Broadcasting Corporation’s new policy of permitting uncensored political wireless talks by spokesmen of the “different parties during the present autumn was inaugurated last night with a speech by Mr. Stanley Baldwin. Mr. George Lansbury, the Opposition Leader, will reply next Thursday, and addresses by other prominent politicians of different parties will follow each week until December 7. After referring to the rapid advances made in export trade, the steady reduction of the adverse trade balance and an increase during last year by 700,000 in the «number of persons brought into employment, Mr. Baldwin said that British trade was slowly and steadily improving and confidence was returning. The full overseas trade returns for September confirm the favourable impression of previous figures. They show that British exports have expanded in every group of manufactured goods. Outstanding rises were shown by the iron and steel, non-fer-rous metals, machinery, textile, and chemical groups. As compared with last year the Increase in exports in September was nearly £6,000,060, and of this increase £4.891,000 took place in manufactured goods. The satisfactory trade returns continue to exercige a favourable influence on the stock markets, and business has been active in industrials and broadened in other directions. Gilt-edged securities hardened. War Loan is £lOl 11/3.
