CITIZENS’ DAY NURSERY
Meeting of the Committee In opening proceedings at the Citizens’ Day Nursery meeting last week Lady Luke made reference to the death of tlie president, Mrs. W. G. Reid, members standing in silence. Mrs. Reid was not only' a generous friend but one whose unfailing tact did much to ensure the machinery of the institution working smoothly. Members were glad to hear that Mrs. Firth is likely fp be at her post again very shortly. Help in cash or kind is urgently needed to carry' on this useful work. Visitors are welcome at any time, and will be shown round by the matron. A hearty invitation is given to the members of the different social workers and charitable organisations to form parties to pay morning visits to the nursery. The children are at their best then, and members of the committee will be only’ too pleased to meet those interested and give any information. There are many faithful users of the nursery, as shown b.v the steadyaverage attendance kept up. Over and above being housed ami cared for. a substantial hot mid-day meal is provided every day. Tlie following gifts are gratefully' acknowledged: New Zealand Trawling Co., fish ; Mr. Rod. bones: Mrs. Greville, meat (weekly); Mrs. Burbidge. cakes; Lady Gray, marmalade; Miss Moss, biscuits: Mrs. Elliott, vegetables; Mrs. Murphy, papers and apples; Mrs. Clarke, jam: Mrs. F.
