DECISION TO DISBAND
Auckland Cricket Umpires By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, September 14. The Auckland Cricket Umpires’ Association has unanimously decided to disband. One member said that the root of- the trouble was the desire of the Cricket Association to get rid of some of the older and allegedly inefficient umpires. Moreover, the umpires were dissatisfied. They had been overlooked in the selection for the Test match against the Englishmen at Auckland, Wanganui and Christchurch men being chosen over their heads. There had recently been a dispute over certain recommendations by the Cricket Association, including a suggested payment to senior umpires of 5/- per day. Some considered that a degradation. The secretary of the Cricket Association said it was taking steps to reconstruct the Umpires’ Association on a different basis.
