Activities of Association The second annual meeting of the Wellington Retail Traders’ Association was held recently, Mr. W. H. Campbell presiding. Members expressed the opinion that in view of the large profits made an electricity In the past and still being made, all excess units over the maximum demand should be charged at not more than one penny. Several speakers were critical of what they termed the continued raiding of electric light profits, and the incoming executive was . urged to watch the position. Consideration was also given to city rating, which was regarded as excessive, and there was some comment on the sales tax, which was blamed for Increasing the cost of living by adding from 8 per cent, to 12 per cent, to the landed cost of goods. The following office-bearers were elected: —President, Mr.'W. H. Campbell; hon. secretary, Mr. A. L. Hurdley; bon. treasurer, Mr. H. G. Carter; committee, Mrs. Collins, Madame Cow an, Messrs. L. P. Evans, O’Connor, Freeman, Sherwood, and Armit.
