The Argentine Government has awarded to British firms a contract, of which the value will be well over £500,000, to supply galvanised sheet iron barriers to protect crops from locusts. ’ ' Experiments carried out in the Argentine have proved the value of this form of protection. One of the stipulations of the contract is that the sheetiron barriers shall be delivered early, so that the campaign can begin toward the end of the year, when the locusts are in a certain stage.
