Ray Nicol Retains Title BILLY SULLIVAN BEATEN By Telegraph—Press Association. Hastings, June 12. In a good fast professional contest for the New Zealand light-heavy boxing championship, Ray Nicol, 12st. 7111?, Invercargill, retained his title at Hastings to-night, defeating Billy Sullivan. 12st. 6Jlb., on points. The champion shaded his opponent in the' majority of the 15 rounds, Sullivan tiring badly from the tenth. MIDDLEWEIGHT TITLE Lowe Outclasses Mac Ewan By Telegraph.—Press Association. Dunedin, June 12. In one of the most willing bouts seen here for a-long time, Bert Lowe won the middleweight championship of New Zealand by defeating George McEwan. A feature of the bout was the game showing by MacEwail, who was beaten badly in practically every round, and fought the final four almost “out” on his feet. In the ten-round preliminary between Charlie Buckley, Dunedin, and Dave Richardson, Timaru, Buckley won on a technical knock-out in the ninth round.
