CRISIS IN SPAIN
President and Premier CONFLICT ON RELIGION (Received June 9, 10.30 p.m.) Madrid, June 8. Following a disagreement between the President and the Prime Minister the Government resigned. The President, Don Zamora, declared that be must consult the Republicans regard ing tile Ministerial changes suggested by Don Azana, who interpreted this as a lack of confidence. Behind the Government’s resignation lies Don Zamora’s disapproval ofthe Religious Orders Bill, which, it is un derstood, he signed with the greatest reluctance. The passage of the Bill, however, left him for the first time in possession of full Presidential powers under the Republican Constitution, for the BUI completed the programme of legislation for which the present Parliament was elected in June, 1931. It is believed in influential quarters that Don Azana will return to the Premiership.
