FORTY-FOUR HOURS
N.S.W. Working Week BENEFIT TO VICTORIA (Received June 9, 6.30 p.m.) Sydney, June 9. The Industrial Commission of New South Wales to-day declared forty-four hours as the standard working week for New South Wales employees. Certain Industries will have the right to apply for examption. The employers’ representatives are of the opinion that the Commission’s decision will retard the industry of New South Wales in favour of Victoria, where the 4S-hour week is almost universal, Victoria already, for this very reason, is capturing considerable trade from New South Wales factories.
