FOOTBALL FILM

Teaching Laws of Game FOR REFEREES & PLAYERS The South German Football Association. in conjunction with the Referee',’ Association, is leaving no means untried for inventing processes for the instruction of players, spectators, and referees in the laws of the game of Soccer. In the course of the last summer the German association has completed a football film which is unique in its character. The film is about 1300 yards long, and takes lj hours to show. Between 220 and 230 pieces of play and applications of laws of the game are shown. It is the first large film that has ever been constructed for instructional purposes in football. Captions and directions have been translated into German, English. French and Italian. It is expected that the film would be ready for release about the end of this year. A private exhibition has already been given, and the film’s value as a medium of instruction for players, referees, and spectators has been commended in eulogistic terms. This is a matter which will probably be taken up by the Council of the Now Zealand Football Association, with a view to having a copy of the film sent to New Zealand. In communicating with the English Football Association on the subject a request might be made for the use of films of some of the leading English games.
