DIAMOND WEDDING

Mr. and Mrs. George Key The GOih anniversary of their wedding in Wellington in 1573 was celebrated on Thursday by Air. and Airs. George Key, of 90 Tasman Street, Wellington. Although Air. Key is at present confined to his bed with a slight ailment, but he and his wife enjoy good health. Air. Key, who was born in England, S 3 years ago, came to New Zealand when about six years of age. For twelve years be was senior councillor of the old Alelrosc Borough, and for 14 years a member of the Melrose School Committee. He was one of the founders, and is the oldest member of the Sir George Grey Foresters’ Lodge, and still attends its meetings. He is keen on bowls, and is a familiar figure on the rinks. For 42 years he was employed by the Stewart Timber Company. Airs. Key was born at Lower Hutt SO years ago, and has vivid recollections of the Alaori Wars. Her mother died six years ago at the age of 101. Mrs. Key had a family of twelve children, ten of whom are living. They are Mesdames G. Barnes, Nelson; A. Finnie, Dunedin; A. Yarlett, J. Eager, and Miss M. Key, Wellington. The sons are: Thomas R., George W., Percy E., Arthur S., and Charles L., all of Wellington. There are 31 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
