WEDDINGS

Edwards—McGuire Au evening wedding took place at the Methodist Church, Molesworth Street, on Monday, April 10, when Myrtle Jane, third daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. McGuire, Wellington, was married to Harry Granville Edwards, elder son of Mr. and Mrs. Edwards, Christchurch. The Rev. Md. Odel officiated. The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore a frock of white angel skin satin and lace, cut on classical lines, with fitting sleeves. The silk embrodered tulle veil, which was lent by the bridegroom’s sister, was arranged cap fashion, and circled by a wreath of pearls and orange blossom. She carried a shower bouquet of pale pink carnations and chrysanthemums. The chief bridesmaid (Miss Mabel McGuire), sister of the bride, wore a pale apricot elephant crepe frock with fitting skirt graduating to a full flare at the ankles, and cape to match. The frock was finished with a sash of pale green velvet, and she wore green shoes to tone. The second bridesmaid,Miss Alary Edwards, sister of the bridegroom, wore gold crepe satin, cut on similar lines, also a cape and diamante belt, with tinsel shoes to tone. Both wore turban hats of the same material as their frocks, and carried sheafs of dahlias to tone. The best man was Air. E. McGuire, cousin of the bride, and Air. Af. F. Wright acted as groomsman. A reception was afterwards held at the home of the bride’s parents. The bride's mother wore a frock of navy marocain, with hat to match, and carried a bouquet of pale pink and red roses. The parents of the bridegroom were unable to attend owing to the recent long illness of Airs. Edwards. The bride and bridegroom’s future home will be in Christchurch. Whale—Goodin The wedding was solemnised at Karori Methodist Church on Easter Saturday afternoon of Rita Thelma, only daughter of Air. and Airs. Albert Goodin, of Karori, to Frank, eldest son of Mrs. Whale and the late Air. Arthur Whale, of Wellington. The Rev. Air. Blair officiated, and Atiss Jean McLeod was at the organ. The church was decorated with cosmas and hydrangeas. The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore a soft satin gown with cowl neck, fitting into the figure and falling into flares to the ground. Her fine net veil, which formed a cap. was held in place with tiny bunches of orange blossom. She carried a sheaf of gladiolas and roses. The three bridesmaids (cousins of the bride) were Miss Marjorie Goodin and Misses Dorothy and Ngaire Lowe. They wore applegreen organdie frocks with cross-over bodices. The two first-men-tioned maids wore large straw hats swathed with velvet, while the smaller maid wore a green cap. They also wore green lace mittens and carried sheafs of apricot gladiolas. The bridegroom was attended by his brother. Air. L. Whale, and Air. B. Goodiu was groomsman. The reception was held in the Scouts Hall, Karori. Mrs. Goodin, who received the guests, wore a smart ensemble of navy and a small navy hat with eye veil. She carried a bouquet of crimson roses. Airs. AVhale, mother of the bridegroom, wore a becoming frock of violet shade with a small bat of same colour. Her bouquet was of anemones and cyclamen. The bride travelled in a rust-coloured ensemble with smart hat to tone. The fur coats of distinction and quality, at more than competitive prices, are now displayed at the showrooms of H. H.
