Children in Danger
Sir, —Twice within the last two weeks, and many times within the last few months, the drastic need ot: a traffic mspcctor outside tlie Lambton station nctween the hours of 8 u.in. and 9 a.ui. has been forcibly brought Io my During this time hundreds of schoo, children are hurrying across from the station to their various trams, a stream of morning traffic is coming into town via. Tliorndon Quay. Children of all ages, from six years upwards, dash across, and lake alarming risks. A short time ago a motor-cyclist, travelling too fast, dashed perilously into a crowd of children. The scream of brakes caught mv attention, and some motormeu staml'mg by their trains stopped and warned him. This morning a small boy ot about seven saw the road clear ot traffic to the right, and ran from the station for a gap between rwo waiting trams, to get his tram on the Lanibton line uot seeing a train coming fairly last from the left behind the waiting trams. How be was pot killed is a miracle. . . These are only two examples of mcidents that are occurring constantly, ami could be largely prevented if a trailic inspector could be stationed at. tins oaugerous crossing, during the hour when children and trailic are simultaneously hurrying into town, — 1 am. etc., OKLOOKER.
