Dear Boys and Girls, Easter is here again, and my letter is just in tune to zt'ish you happy holidays, and lots of fun. Have you tried to colour your breakfast, eggs? J expect that many of you have made your ozvn special ones for surprises." 'lsn’t it fun keeping your Easter eggs for. the rest of the family secret, then just 'when they are beginning to ■wonder if you’ve quite forgotten them to whisk them into sight? Do you remember zvhy eggs were chosen to be the symbols of Easter, and why Easter is so named? In the long ago the pagan festival dedicated to Easlre, the Anglo-Saxon goddess of spring, was held when the nezv life of the year was budding. The egg and its fluffy chicken arc symbols of Life. Although our Easter comes in the autumn, the saipe spirit of happiness is everyzuhere. The Churches, decorated zvith fragrant flozvers, are filled with people rejoicing in the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. The shops arc very gay now. Every window is filled zuith shining, spcckly eggs with yellow chickens perched cheerfully on them. Big eggs, little eggs zvith chickens to match; cardboard eggs, chocolate eggs, eggs zvith shining silver coats; eggs in boxes, eggs in chariots drazim by grown-up chickens zv'ith little ones in front. Hozv I zvish that I could send Inkling off in his sharpener ’plane to bring all the country members to tozvn. IVhat a day zve’d have, Inkling, and Penzvipcr, you and I!
