OFFICIAL QUESTIONS

Form for Relief Workers AUCKLAND OPPOSITION By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, March 20. Strong opposition to the official questionnaire for relief workers and criticism of the general policy of the Unemployment Board were voiced at a large meeting at Auckland last night. The chairman, Mr. H. P. Burton, said that for two years he had been chairman of the City Council committee conttolling the council’s relief work. The council had just about reached a stage where, unless the board put its house in order, it was prepared to down tools as a protest and not engage another man. The Rev. Father Colgan said that the Government had never issued such an unmitigated piece of impertinence as the latest questionnaire. There were many other enactments which showed lack of sympathy with the relief workers, and simply from Christian principles he condemned them. The Rev. Knowles Kempton said the questionnaire was an insult. Mr. H. G. R. Mason, M.P., described the questionnaire as incoherent, and said that in the ordinary ease it was impossible to fill in. After other speakers had been heard, the meeting unanimously passed a resolution protesting against relief workers being asked to sign the form and against the policy of compulsory relief camps.
