Press reports state that the Brazilian Government is negotiating with the Japanese Foreign Office for the construction in Japanese yards of 30cruisers, destroyers, and transports. British firms have 'also been approached by the Brazilian Government in regard to the construction of warships, cruisers, and destroyers, payment for which will be made by bartering 'coffee and other products.
