' SALES COMPARED New Zealand and Victoria Recent cable messages from Melbourne announcing the . results of the yearling Sales there should be a convincing reply to those who see the pessimistic side of racing in New Zealand. Eighty-nine yearlings brought 10,025 guineas at an Average of 112 j guineas. Compare this with 65 yearlings sold at Trentham for 10,075 guineas at an average of 155 guineas. The respective results of thb sales are worth attention. Top price at Melbourne is recorded as 475 guineas. At Trentham in January the best was 1175 guineas, While the average price for Limonds, nearly 400 ghineas, closely approached the combined strength of all the studs of a great State like Victoria. New Zealand has reason to congratulate its studmasters on the January sales. FIXTURES. March 17—Opunake R.C. March 17, IS—Wellington R.C. .March 17, 18—Ohinemuri J.C. March 22, 23— Manawatu R.C.
