SAILORS’ FRIEND SOCIETY

The week-end was a busy time for the workers of the Sailors’ Friend Society. On Sunday there were three bright, wellattended .services. The preachers for the day were Mr. A. MacMillan and Mr. J. W. Buchanan. Mrs. E. 11. Sellens was soloist for the evening. A2large number of men sat down to tea. while a much larger number were present for supper, which was served at the close of the song service. On Monday, sports, games and music were the order of tlie day from 2 o'clock. The tea hour kept the workers well occupied, there being a large company present to partake of the good things provided. At eight o’clock a musical programme was presented to a full hall. The performers were the Misses Freeman, Gibbs and R. Brown. Mrs. Morrisby, Messrs. Bevan, F. Bolton. Bennett and Teeling. Mrs. Gibbs and Mr. P. Archer were at the piano. Prizes won during the day were distributedfi the winners being Messrs. Wiltbuted. the winners being Messrs. Yandell, Good, Cook. Bolton, Kelly, Olson, Clark. Alphonson. Wells. Falconer and Miss Simme. In the tug-of-war. Port Caroline v. All Comers, the honours went to the Port men.
