Reports on Mandates Geneva, Jan. 25. The League of Nations Council adopted the Mandates Commission’s report, which expresses the hope that Australia will not relax her efforts to bring the whole of New Guinea under control, despite the difficulty of the country and the Hostility of the inhabitants. The Commission also notes the statement by Sir Thomas Wilford, New Zealand High Commissioner in London, that the political situation in Samoa is improved, and hopes that this v ill proceed sufficiently to enable a gradual abolition of emergency measures.
