Freezing Works Trouble
ACCUSED REMANDED Dominion Special Service. Feilding, Jan. 23Appearing on remand, Michael Roughan, who was charged with committing actual bodily harm on Albert Dick, was remanded until January 28. Accused was arrested following an alleged assault upon non-union freezing workers by union workers at the rear of a Feilding boarding house. Bail was renewed.’ FOUR MAORIS CHARGED By Telegraph—Frees Association. , Gisborne, Jan. 23. As the result of an argument in a hotel right-of-way on'Christmas Eve, four Maoris, John Kingi, Meni Katipa, Joe Hoera Tupara, and Tommy Ahurlri, were charged before Mr. P. H. Harper, S.M., to-day with assaulting John Dalrymple so as to cause him actual bodily harm. Dalyrpmple is a free labour butcher at Kaiti works, and was admitted to hospital with a broken jaw. After a lengthy hearing, accused pleaded not guilty and were committed to the Supreme Court for trial.
